What’s new
The main changes to Skellig, in plain words.
Photos look like photos
- A photo or video you email to Skellig, or one that is not a document yet, now shows a photo or video picture instead of a page.
- In Private, the Notes, Photos and Docs tabs each show how many there are.
Old links now point to skellig.app for good
- Links to onedocspot.com now tell browsers and search engines that Skellig has moved to skellig.app for good.
Open Private on a new iPhone without the code
- On a new iPhone, tap Approve From Another Device. Approve it on an iPhone or computer where Private is already open, after checking both show the same code.
- Forwarding documents by email now uses an address on skellig.app. Your old address keeps working.
The story behind the name
- Settings → Why Skellig tells the story of the island behind the name. The website tells it too.
- Skellig emails (sign-in links, reminders, invitations) have a new, calmer look.
A cleaner top on iPhone
- On recent iPhones, the strip behind the clock now takes the colour of the page you are on, instead of a grey-blue bar.
Private at night
- On iPhone, Private now opens under a night sky: the moon over the rock, up to the clock. It stays in place as your notes, photos and documents slide up over it.
- Inside Private, everything is in deep navy, so you can tell at a glance that you are in your locked space.
Calmer note colours
- Notes no longer fill with pastel colours. A coloured note stays white, with a small dot before its title and a thin line under its bar when open.
- The colours now come from the Skellig coast: sand, sea grass, Atlantic, coral, heather and rock. Your notes keep the colour you chose.
The rock in a few more places
- Private opens on the rock at dusk.
- To Do shows All clear when nothing expires in the next 30 days.
- Empty lists show a small sunset, the end of your documents shows the Skellig mark, and Settings opens on it.
- On Documents, the sunset stays in place and your list slides up over it.
- Ask reads like a chat: your question box is at the bottom, and answers show bold text properly.
- Emails from Skellig now come from hello@skellig.app.
- An open note leaves a little more room under the clock.
The sunset up to the clock
- On iPhone, the sunset on Documents and on the lock screen now runs up behind the clock. Elsewhere a navy band sits behind the clock.
- If the top of the app still shows a grey band, remove Skellig from your Home Screen and add it again from skellig.app/m/.
A navy tab bar
- The tab bar at the bottom is now Atlantic navy, with the current tab in light teal.
- The greeting on Documents shows your first name after a Face ID unlock too.
A warmer welcome
- Documents now opens on a sunset over the Skellig rock, with a greeting and what is due in the next 30 days. It scrolls away as you go down your list.
- Selected filters and the current tab are in Skellig teal.
A sunset when Skellig is locked
- The lock screen and the password screen now show the Skellig rock at sunset, with Face ID on the sea below.
- Our contact address is now hello@skellig.app.
A menu on phones
- On phones and small tablets, the website now has a menu button at the top right. It opens every section, plus Start free trial and Sign in.
The rock in view on phones
- On phones and tablets, the picture of the app on the website no longer hides the rock: the rock now stands next to it.
The website in Skellig colours
- The website now looks like the Skellig icon: a sunset over the rock at the top, a short story of where the name comes from, and the same teal, navy and sunset colours down to the footer.
New address: skellig.app
- Skellig moves to skellig.app. Old links to onedocspot.com keep working and take you there, and your documents, notes and Private stay as they are.
- On iPhone, add Skellig to your Home Screen again from skellig.app/m, sign in with your password and set up Face ID once more. If you use Private, keep your Private code at hand: it opens Private once on the new address.
- Email to Skellig addresses and our email address stay the same.
Skellig everywhere: new colours and icon
- The app now says Skellig everywhere, including emails and notifications. Buttons and links are now rock teal, the category badges use the new Skellig colours, and the icon is the Skellig rock at sunset. If you added the app to your iPhone Home Screen before today, it may keep the old name and icon there; everything inside is the same.
OneDocSpot is now Skellig
- OneDocSpot is now Skellig. Same app, same account, same documents. You will see the new name on the website first, then in the app and emails over the coming days. The web address stays onedocspot.com for now.
Updated Privacy Policy
- The Privacy Policy now covers Notes, Private, turning AI reading off, the silence check and your backup email, what the OneDocSpot team sees for each account, Email to OneDocSpot, your @handle and calendar link, and says where our servers are (Frankfurt, Germany). The changes are listed at the end of the policy.
Updated Terms of Service
- The Terms now cover Private, Notes, the silence check, turning AI reading off and adding documents without internet on iPhone. For accounts opened before 03/11/2026 they apply from 03/12/2026. The changes are listed at the end of the Terms.
Private: notes, photos and documents
- Private now has three tabs: Notes, Photos and Documents. Everything already in Private stays there, locked on your device in the same way: what was not a photo or a document is now a Private note.
- For each emergency contact, the choices in Private are now Notes, and Photos and documents.
New categories, AI reading your way, adding documents offline
- New categories: Travel, Receipts & warranties and Pets. Education & kids is now simply Education, and courses and other learning material go there. Documents that were under Other have been sorted again.
- Choose whether the AI reads what you add: in Settings for every new document, with the Read with AI switch when you add some, or later with Read with AI on any document. When it is off, the AI does not read new documents unless you ask it to. Ask still uses your documents and notes to answer your questions.
- On iPhone, you can add documents with no internet. They wait on your iPhone, encrypted, and are added by themselves (and read by the AI if you chose it) as soon as you are back online with OneDocSpot open.
- On iPhone, a message at the top of the screen goes away when you swipe it up.
Private documents open full screen
- On iPhone, a document in Private now fills the screen: Share, Move to Documents and Delete sit at the top, and the pages use the full width. Moving it back asks first and names the folder it returns to.
A clear warning before anything moves to Private
- When you tap Move to Private, OneDocSpot now says first what changes (for a document: no AI, search, reminders, shares or links while it is in Private), before Private opens. Nothing moves until you continue and open Private.
Move a document to Private and back
- Open a document and tap Move to Private. It is locked on your device, then it leaves Documents. Private has a new Documents tab, where PDFs open page by page.
- In Private, a document can go back to Documents with its title, type and dates. You can also add a PDF or picture straight into Private.
- Emergency contacts you chose for photos now get Private documents too, on the same terms.
Import notes, and move notes to Private and back
- Notes → Import: bring your notes from Evernote (.enex), Google Keep (the Google Takeout zip), or as Markdown and text files from Apple Notes, Notion, Bear, Obsidian and others. Formatting, tick lists and dates come along, and the file is read on your device.
- Pictures and PDFs attached to those notes can go to Documents too, filed like any upload.
- Move a note to Private with the lock button (or several at once in Select mode). It is locked on your device, then removed from Notes. In Private, a note can go back to Notes the same way.
What’s New
- This list: the main changes to OneDocSpot, newest first, in Settings and on our website.
Put notes in your own order, send several at once
- Hold a note, then drag it up or down. New notes still appear at the top, and your order is the same on all your devices. Works in Notes and in Private notes.
- In Select mode, tick a few notes and tap the share button: share them to any app, or send a copy to someone on OneDocSpot.
Private notes open full screen
- On iPhone, a Private note now fills the screen like any other note, with its bar always at the top.
- A Private note takes its colour, in the list and when it is open.
Coloured text and highlights in notes
- A clearer formatting bar: Title and Heading, bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, lists and checklists.
- Colour your words or highlight them. A coloured note is now softly tinted instead of a thin line.
Notes stay steady while you type
- On iPhone, an open note fills the screen and its bar (back, share, delete) never scrolls away, even with the keyboard up.
- After an update, OneDocSpot opens the new version straight away.
Format and share your notes
- Simple formatting and a colour for each note.
- Share a note to any app, or send a copy to someone on OneDocSpot by their @handle.
- Select several notes to delete them at once. If a note was changed on another device, you can keep both versions.
Notes
- A new Notes tab: a simple notepad next to your documents, saved as you type and searchable.
- Private notes, inside Private: locked on your device before they are saved.
A backup email for the silence check
- Add a second email address so you never miss an “Are you OK?” message.
Private for your emergency contacts
- For each emergency contact, choose whether they may receive your Private notes, and your Private photos.
- They can open them only after the silence check has told them and a full waiting period has passed. More reminders come to you before that.
Private Photos
- Take photos straight into Private, or move them in from your library. They are locked on your device before they are uploaded, and they never go to your Camera Roll.
Private
- A new place for what only you should see, locked on your device with your own Private code (and Face ID on iPhone). We cannot read what is inside.
News about new features
- An occasional email when something new arrives. Turn it off in Settings, or with one tap in any of those emails.
All your documents on your iPhone
- The iPhone app now keeps a copy of every document, so they open without internet. You can change this in Settings.
Welcome and thank-you emails
- A welcome email with the first steps when you sign up, and a thank-you email with your plan details when you subscribe.
OneDocSpot opens to everyone
- Sign up with a 14-day free trial. Your documents in one place, each file encrypted with your own key, read by AI so you can search and ask, with reminders before they expire, emergency access for the people you trust, and the same app on iPhone and on any computer.
